There is not much to go on here. The lid is all that remains of the
box and there are no identifying marks on the puzzle. The lid has a mahogany edge while
the rest of it is pine, something which I see on other puzzles of the 19th
century. I place it within the first two decades of the 1800s. The cutting around
the interlocking tabs is very much like John Wallis's style, but I would
expect his name to be on it. This puzzle has not been so well loved, but it still
retains value to me and to my collection. This ~47 piece puzzle with paper backing is
14" x 17.25".
